Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an incurable disease of the central nervous system. Nerves outside of the brain are wrapped in an insulating sheath of fatty tissue called myelin. For as an as yet unknown reason, in MS this sheath breaks down. Where there is myelin damage, messages to and from the brain cannot be transmitted properly. This leads to many symptoms which can include muscle weakness, impaired vision, bladder and bowel problems and memory problems. As yet the disease is incurable.
