Robotics

ASIMO robot walking down stairs

Soon we will have autonomous robots in society, as domestic helpers, soldiers and even doctors.

Robots are likely to become more common:

  • in dangerous roles where a human would not be safe;
  • to replace humans in unvalued roles, such as cleaning or factory assembly;
  • where it is cheaper to use a robot;
  • where a robot can do the job better

What might the consequences be of having more robots in society? Would they always be a good idea?
